Registered Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner

All my life I’ve always had a passion for nature, health and helping people. I studied Biology and Psychology at the University of Toronto and was often questioned why I studied 2 very unrelated majors. I learned a lot about plant & animal life and human behaviour & environment, however, it wasn’t until I was introduced to Chinese Medicine at Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TSTCM) and at the Institute of Traditional Medicine (ITM) where I finally bridged the gap.

The application of natural remedies, from plants, roots, leaves, flowers and animal parts, to treating the human body as a whole and how it relates to one’s environment was the main premise of Chinese Medicine. This is was what solidified my career path. My purpose was to help as many people as I could achieve optimal health naturally and to prevent major illness before it starts by finding the underlying root cause instead of just treating the physical symptoms.

In my practice, I use Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic tools such as Tongue and Pulse Diagnosis and Meridian Palpation to identify where your blockages may be. Depending on what you need, I use a combination of Acupuncture, Fire Cupping and Nutritional & Herbal Medicine to bring balance back to the body so it can amplify its own healing capacity.

My goal is to actively reach out to the community and spread the importance of natural health, disease prevention and lifelong wellness. It is my greatest honour to be a part of the Elevated Health and Wellness Team and I look forward to being a part of your journey to a better and healthier, pain-free life.

For Tammy, in her teens and 20’s she worried so much about how she looked that she wasn’t paying enough attention to how she felt. Unfortunately in her 30’s she had to get really unwell - to get well. Her doctor told her he couldn’t prescribe anymore antibiotics that she thought she needed, and that left her desperate and hopeless. She finally had to apply this new concept of nutrition to herself. Tammy started to see and feel how eating real, whole foods was giving her energy. Her emotional and mental health continued to improve and felt more balanced. How alternative medicine healed her gut which was the main reason for her skin issues and in-turn, this way of treating her body cleared her skin. Applying nutrition and a holistic lifestyle gave Tammy confidence in the ability to care for herself, respect her own intuition and look better than ever before while enjoying a new, more balanced and happy life. That’s when she set out to change her career, live her passion and go back to school to study Applied Holistic Nutrition, and earn a diploma and designation of Certified Nutritional Practitioner. She is grateful to live out her passion in Nutritional health and teach others how to apply this mindful, holistic lifestyle to anyone who wants it because it can heal you too. Do you practice self-love, appreciate and celebrate your body every day? Do you treat it well with being intune with it and eating dense whole foods? Maybe we should stop asking why whole, real food is so expensive and start asking why fake, highly processed food is so cheap. Make the Body – mind connection, work on more self-love and start your unique healing inside out with a Nutritional consult. Tammy lives in Rockwood with her husband and 2 young daughters and 2 rescue mixed breed chihuahua’s. In Tammy’s free time she enjoys continual learning through webinars, reading, dancing, getting her vitamin D on the beach and going thrifting.

Andreina is determined to change the life of her patients, one session at a time.

She was inspired to immerse herself in rehabilitation sciences after personally witnessing how physiotherapy helped someone she knew fully. Helping patients quickly became her life’s purpose. She decided to study Occupational Therapy and after a few years, she upgraded her skills and graduated from Physiotherapy.

After 20 years of experience working with patients struggling with orthopedic and neurological conditions, she found herself wanting to learn new concepts to expand her knowledge. She learned about the Fascial network (The biological fabric that hold us together), and this led her to Osteopathy.

Andreina discovered how this hands-on approach to discomfort could positively affect restrictions on the tissues, remove the underlying cause of pain and facilitating the healing of the body. This encouraged her to continue to dedicate her life to help ease her patients pain and improving their quality of life.

Every day, she gets to help her patients, improve their flexibility and blood circulation, decrease the stiffness of their joints, and relieve their pain. She gets to witness how after each session, her patients feel more relaxed, at ease, and more importantly, can go back to their daily activities.

She’s seen firsthand how through Osteopathy; her patients have regained control of their lives in the face of chronic pain. Mothers are now playing with their children again, students are enjoying their social outings and workers are going back to their jobs. This therapy is for everyone that wants to reclaim their life from pain and discomfort.

When she is not helping patients, you can find her enjoying time with her family and friends, hiking and getting lost in a good book.

Andreina is constantly updating her knowledge and is currently studying the curriculum for Visceral Manipulation and Craniosacral Therapy with The International Alliance of Healthcare Practitioners.

Are you ready to improve the quality of your life, overall well-being, and regain control of your body?

Throughout life you are given opportunities but it is up to you whether or not you take them!

There was a time in my life when I should have been happy. I had a good life! I had a great job as a high school chemistry teacher, I loved the students in my classes, and most of all I loved teaching! Becoming a teacher was everything I ever wanted! It gave me stability and security, plus I enjoyed it most of the time. But I still had this deep void inside of me that always felt like something was missing in my life. To fill it I tried so many things! Not only was I a full time teacher but I also coached sport after sport, was on the grad committee, social committee and the list could go on and on. I blew off steam by going out and partying on the weekends, drinking way too much, staying up too late and overall not making the best choices for myself. It was a perfect storm for disaster. After a minor car accident, my body wouldn’t heal, so I had to do some deep soul searching when my intuition screamed loudly at me! My anxiety and depression were at an all time high but no one knew! I kept it all to myself. The only idea that made the anxiety calm down was to quit my job, leave all my family friends, and go back to school to become a naturopathic doctor. It calmed my anxiety but it brought up huge amounts of fear! I was in an epic quandary!

It’s scary it is to take a leap into the unknown, especially a leap that doesn’t make sense to anyone around you, maybe even to yourself. If I wouldn’t have trusted my gut, I wouldn’t be where I am today and there is no way in the world that I would change it for anything!!! Don’t get me wrong, life is not always sunshine and rainbows, but I have a new perspective and I love to share it with my patients so that they can move into a life that they love too! I get to do what I am passionate about every single day!

One of my passions is working with hormones- female hormones, stress hormones, thyroid hormones, and off course the neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. It combines my love of science in understanding their roles in the body and how to optimize their function, while we also work on the mental health aspect that is often interconnected. When your mental health is not in a good place, its hard to make changes to your overall health, but when your hormones aren’t balanced, it can also affect your mental health. This can put you in a never ending cycle that is hard to exit. Even if you have heard, it’s all in your head… it might be, but it’s really hard to figure it all out if you are not feeling your best because there are some chemical imbalances in your body!

Every day, I get to unite my loves of science and teaching from my past with my knowledge of the human body and my deep inquisitive nature to guide my patients on their journeys to better health. I can’t imagine any better way to spend my life!

Alicia meets the Standard of Practice to therapeutically prescribe restricted substances such as bio-identical hormones, desiccated thyroid, B12 shots, and high dose vitamin D. She has also done additional training to be able to administer IV therapy.

With a focus on continuing education and professional growth, Alicia is a proud member of the following professional organizations: CAND OAND AARM B2C

Dr. Michelle Pobega, ND is in the business of transformations. She helps her clients feel their best, find their confidence, improve their self-esteem, and shine bright by helping them take back control of their embarrassing and uncomfortable digestive problems.

Michelle is no stranger to bloating and bellyaches. Digestion has been her weakest link since university. While completing 4 years of undergrad at McMaster University, she stressed out emotionally and mentally, stayed up excessively late to study, and ate her feelings (which was typically an abundance of chocolates and coffee). The effects of these behaviors snowballed and followed her to The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She developed food sensitivities (gluten is still her worst enemy) and “Irritable Bowel Syndrome” (IBS) with symptoms like bloating, abdominal pains, gas, etc; she taxed her adrenal glands (stress glands) and often felt like she was on an emotional rollercoaster, all of which made her digestion worse. It left her feeling defeated, self-conscious, out of control, exhausted, and miserable.

Thankfully, her time studying naturopathic medicine helped her recognize what was going on and begin to systematically address it. She was able to successfully manage her digestion and in turn, was able to find her confidence and feel comfortable in her own skin again. The journey of healing herself inspired her focus on helping others optimize their digestion, take control back of their lives, feel empowered, and thrive.

Dr. Michelle, ND has completed a four year Honors Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University, followed by four years of full-time study at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She is registered to practice and regulated by The College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO) and is a member in good standing with both the Ontario and Canadian Associations of Naturopathic Medicine.

I find immense meaning and contentment in helping people overcome mental health challenges and thrive in life. My background education is in computer science and business, and when it was the right time, I studied counselling psychology to pursue my passion of helping people. My previous job experience has given me great awareness into different cultural perspectives, family dynamics, and individual’s unique life situation and challenges. Individuals are unique and so are their issues. You are the expert of your life and I can come alongside and be your helper to create awareness and understanding.

I provide the space to unwind yourself and help you with tools and practices to overcome your stuckness and move towards your goals. I am passionate about the field of psychotherapy because I believe it can help people heal, recover, and restore to optimal functioning. While treating clients with simple and complex trauma, stress, anger, anxiety, panic, PTSD, low mood, relationship issues, etc., I have had the joy of seeing them shift and take the road to recovery. I offer counselling to different populations like adolescents, young adults, adults, seniors and couples. I believe in holistic treatment and understand how mind and body works together and treating the symptoms may not be effective if the underlying cause is not addressed. The biology involving the brain in mental health challenges is significant and I like to educate the clients about the same to instil hope. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR basics, PrepareEnrich and Rapid Resolution Therapy.

When I am not working, I love to travel, spend time with my family and friends, read good books and enjoy good music.
